About Me and My Approach
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT #49463) living and working in Oakland, California. My experience as a therapist includes helping men, women, and couples find ways to live life more fully, communicate effectively, and feel better about themselves.
I want to help you become more self-aware, live more in the present, and assume more responsibility for taking care of yourself. My therapeutic style is thoughtful, active and non-judgmental. I am LGBTQI affirmative and strive towards cultural competence.
What does therapy look like? The therapy process is highly individual. What works for one person might not work for another. I incorporate a variety of therapeutic modalities depending on what works best for you. Methods I use include traditional talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), somatic techniques, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and mindfulness approaches. My work is informed by current research in the areas of neuroscience and trauma.
The duration of the therapeutic process ranges from short-term, goal-oriented work to longer-term depth work focused on exploration and discovery. Most clients find they are helped by meeting once per week while others choose to meet two or more times each week. It is usually best for us to discuss your therapeutic goals to decide together what is best for you. Therapy sessions are generally 50 minutes long.
